Goldsearch Australia was opened in July 2007 by veteran prospector & treasure hunter Tony Mills to offer prospectors and treasure hunters a new experience in sales of well known brands as well as alternative products. Situated in Dunolly, detectorists have the world famous nugget producing “Golden Triangle” right at their doorstep.

As the Australian distributor of well known USA manufacturer, Whites Electronics, we offer all the models in the range from this world famous brand. Added to this, we are leading the field in bringing new, emerging brands of advanced prospecting and treasure hunting equipment to the attention of the prospecting and treasure hunting community.

A full range of accessories are also available including both Nugget Finder & Coiltek metal detector coils, cables, adaptors, headphones, GPS units, UHF radios, harnesses, batteries and much, much more. Tony Mills - Director, Goldsearch Australia

Without doubt, one of Australia’s originators of the modern day ‘electronic gold rush’, Tony Mills has been using and selling metal detectors for over 33 years.

He purchased one of the first ground balancing VLF machines way back in 1974. With almost immediate success, it was obvious to him that there was a fortune waiting to be uncovered in Australia. Over the years, selling detectors from home in Wollongong and then expanding to run 2 retail outlets in Sydney. Tony’s first dealership was with Whites electronics which is a relationship that continues today as Goldsearch Australia is the sole Australian distributor of this famous American brand. Tony is one of only 2 people in Australia that were involved in selling detectors in the ‘early years’ that are still involved today.

Tony soon branched into other brand metal detectors in the late 1970’s and made it a full time business. Running demo’s and promoting metal detectors via the media, he became the face of detecting in Australia for a number of years until 1982 when using the machines became of more importance than selling them! Branching out into professional prospecting in Central Victoria became the scene for Tony and success was immediate. Regular trips from NSW to VIC became of longer duration until in 1990 he moved lock, stock & barrel to Central Victoria and became a local!

Adventures to Africa and Greece pursuing gold mining and treasure hunting ventures saw him gaining more valuable insights into the worldwide metal detecting industry. Along came 1995 and with it the second ‘goldrush’ which was sparked by the introduction of Pulse Induction gold prospecting metal detectors. The huge amount of gold recovered brought new detector retailing businesses to the region and Tony became manager of one of these for a few years before branching out on his own once more as the sole Australian distributor of Whites metal detectors.
